On 30 October, the conference “EGTCs: Experiences and Perspectives for Cross-Border Cooperation” was held in Gorizia, at the University of Trieste’s university campus, and co-organised by the EGTC GO and the EGTC Euregio Senza Confini.
📚 The morning was dedicated to the experiences of European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation (EGTCs) with Italian participation. It featured the presentation of the book “European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation in Italy”, followed by a roundtable discussion involving researchers, experts and EGTC representatives, which was also attended by our Director, Sandra Sodini. In her contribution, she explored the role of our EGTC as an instrument of cooperation among its three member Regions, highlighting the importance of increasingly close cooperation between Interreg programmes and EGTCs, so that the latter can take on a stable and recognised role in overcoming cross-border obstacles and strengthening the Single Market, thereby contributing to deeper integration and territorial cooperation.
🤝 In the afternoon, a second roundtable discussion explored the prospects for cooperation between Italy, Austria and Slovenia, focusing in particular on the European BRIDGEforEU Regulation, the role of EGTCs as Cross-Border Contact Points, and the BE-EGTC and EGTC-NET projects.
💡 The conference provided an important opportunity for dialogue and exchange between institutions, academia and cross-border cooperation stakeholders, allowing participants to share experiences and reflect on new opportunities for cooperation and territorial development.
