Kick-off meeting of the 'EU-MOVE: LPT Without Borders' project
On Tuesday, 19 March 2024, the kick-off meeting of the project "EU-MOVE: LPT Without Borders", funded under Axis 5 "Reducing Cross-Border Obstacles" of the Interreg Italy-Austria VI-A 2021-2027 Cooperation Programme, was held.
The EU-MOVE project aims at removing the main cross-border obstacles related to the mobility of people. In particular, the aim is to develop a multi-level cross-border governance in order to implement a joint planning and programming system of the local public passenger transport (LPT) system in the cross-border area and to activate a system of structured cooperation between the managers of the Regions involved, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Carinthia.
Together with the Euregio Senza Confini EGTC team, representatives of the three Regional Infrastructure and Mobility Directorates and the Carinthian Transport Association (Verkehrsverbund Kärnten GmbH) attended the event.
The regional administrations play a key role in the governance of public transport, and this first meeting laid the foundations for the activities to be carried out during the project.
After a short presentation of the project objectives and WPs by Dr. Chiara Fabbro, Coordinator of the European Projects of EGTC Euregio Senza Confini and Dr. Mia Cappellari, Project and Financial Manager of the EU-MOVE project, the working methodology of the analysis of demand and supply of cross-border mobility in the area of EGTC Euregio Senza Confini was discussed with the intervention of Dr. Marco Mazzarino, Consultant of EGTC Euregio Senza Confini.
Dr. Sandra Sodini, Director of EGTC Euregio Senza Confini then presented the general approach of the cross-border thematic tables and the draft technical agreement between the Regions, sharing the experience of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region with the Republic of Slovenia.
Finally, each of the three Regions intervened to illustrate the context of public transport in the cross-border area of their respective territories as well as to present possible pilot actions aimed at responding to the specific problems identified in the analysis phase of the existing LPT services.
