The EGTC Euregio Senza Confini plays a leading role at the 2025 European Week of Regions and Cities

Bruxelles, 14 ottobre 2025

From 13 to 15 October 2025, Brussels hosted the 23rd edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities (#EURegionsWeek), the largest event dedicated to the role of regions and cities in promoting development and cohesion within the European Union.

The EGTC Euregio Senza Confini also took an active part, contributing with two official events that highlighted the value of cross-border cooperation and the role of territories in crisis and emergency management.

“Fit for Cooperation”: bottom-up experiences for successful cooperation

Il GECT Euregio Senza Confini, insieme al GECT Euregio Tirolo–Alto Adige–Trentino, ha presentato il progetto Fit4Co CBO, mentre Interreg Europe ha illustrato la propria iniziativa di peer review.

The EGTC Euregio Senza Confini, together with the EGTC Euregio Tyrol–South Tyrol–Trentino, presented the Fit4Co CBO project, while Interreg Europe showcased its peer review initiative.

In the second part of the event, participants were divided into three breakout rooms to share good practices and ideas on how to strengthen cross-border cooperation through participatory approaches.
In particular, the “Borders Lab” breakout room, coordinated by the EGTC Euregio Senza Confini, provided an opportunity for various stakeholders to exchange views on tools useful for addressing cross-border obstacles in European territories.

Regions and municipalities in action: prevention and resilience in border areas

The second event — dedicated to cross-border civil protection — brought together political representatives and project managers from different European territories to share experiences and best practices aimed at strengthening the safety and preparedness of local communities.
The meeting highlighted the key role of regions and cities in natural disaster prevention, emergency management, and cooperation among local authorities, emphasizing the importance of shared and resilient governance.

During his speech, the Regional Councillor for Health, Social Policies and Disabilities of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, responsible for Civil Protection, presented the new EGTC Agreement on Civil Protection, recently updated in 2025.
Originally signed in 2014, the Agreement represents a pioneering model at European level, through which the three Civil Protection services of the Euregio regions collaborate to build an integrated cross-border civil protection system.
Among the main new features is the joint management of emergency calls through the Single European Emergency Number (112) of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Land of Carinthia.

The participation of the EGTC Euregio Senza Confini in the #EURegionsWeek 2025 was an important opportunity to enhance the experiences gained in cross-border cooperation and to strengthen dialogue with European partners, institutions, and territories.
