During the 26th Assembly of the EGTC, held on April 11 in Venice, the Updated Protocol on Civil Protection was signed between Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Carinthia. The agreement consolidates and strengthens cross-border cooperation, bringing together the best practices developed in the three territories in the fields of training, technology, and operations.
An evolution of the 2014 agreement
The updated protocol builds upon and expands the initial agreement signed in 2014, adapting it to regulatory and operational changes over the past ten years. Among the new measures, the protocol provides for the direct transfer of emergency calls between the operational centers of the three Regions and the interconnection of the Single Emergency Numbers (NUE112), with the aim of speeding up responses and improving interoperability. The new system will enable the real-time exchange of data and information on critical situations, ensuring greater effectiveness in rescue operations and broader mutual assistance.
A more integrated and efficient system
Based on the protocol, a shared IT system will be implemented for the automatic management of information on critical events across the three territories, allowing for requests for support, communication of available resources (human and material), and assignment of missions to rescue teams.
