3rd Steering Committee Meeting of the ADRIPASS Project in Ploče (Croatia)
The 3rd Steering Committee meeting of the ADRIPASS project was held in Ploče (Croatia), hosted by the Port Authority of Ploče, a project partner.
Representatives of the ADRIPASS partnership met to discuss the current project status and upcoming activities. The CEI-ES, as Lead Partner, opened the meeting with an overview of results achieved so far and forthcoming commitments, while the EGTC “Senza Confini”, WP leader for Communication, presented the proposal for the new Communication Strategy and related activities.
In the field of integrated multimodal transport – a key project area – the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki presented the progress of data collection regarding physical and non-physical obstacles at border crossing points (BCPs) and along the logistics chains from ports to the hinterland. This data will be used to identify and analyse bottlenecks along the main corridors of the ADRION region. Additionally, the Institute for Transport and Logistics (ITL) highlighted the importance of the transnational Action Plan to facilitate transport.
Participants had the opportunity to discuss and present key steps to optimise freight transport and improve multimodal transport in ADRION ports using ICT tools. This will be addressed through four pilot actions. A pre-investment study will also be launched, to be completed by July 2019 by the Ports of Koper, Ploče, Bar, the Region of Epirus, and the Port Authority of Durrës.
The importance of involving associated partners and stakeholders in the ADRION region was again emphasised, considering their contribution crucial for the transnational strategy and for improving multimodal transport accessibility, the true final outcome of the project.
The next Steering Committee meeting of ADRIPASS is scheduled for July 2019 in Igoumenitsa (Greece).
