Objectives

Border regions are places where the process of European integration should be viewed in a particularly positive way: it should be possible to carry out all daily activities (studying, working, training, providing assistance or doing business) regardless of the existence of national borders. The data collected by the European Commission in the Communication "Boosting growth and cohesion in EU border regions" COM (2017) 534, however, show that border regions generally achieve less positive results from an economic point of view than other regions located in inland areas of the respective Member States.

The removal of only 20% of corss-border obstacles would be enough to have a 2% growth in the GDP of border regions.

Promoting systemic actions, also of a legislative nature, becomes fundamental in order to create favorable conditions for increasing the economic growth prospects of our territories. Indeed, cross-border difficulties are always perceived at a local level, while solutions can rarely be found at a local level. To remove cross-border obstacles or reduce their complexity, all levels of government and administration need to work closely together.

The EGTC Euregio Senza Confini, a common management tool for the three regions, can play a very key role in implementing those actions that can contribute to greater economic and social cohesion of our borders.

Therefore, EGTCs aims at implementing territorial cooperation programs or projects co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

There are numerous projects in which the EGTC Euregio Senza Confini is involved as Lead Partner, Partner or Associated Partner.

For further details on this it is advisable to visit the Projects section of the EGTC Euregio Senza Confini.

Overcoming Cross Border Obstacles

In view of the new European programming 2021-2027, one of the main challenges of the member States and Regions is to facilitate he overcoming and removal of the so-called cross border obstacles, that is obstacles of different nature (legal, fiscal, etc.), in order to make border Regions laboratories of European integration, to the benefit of European territories and their inhabitants.

Undoubtedly, this challenge can be assumed by the EGTC Euregio Senza Confini which in its original vocation represents the common tool for the management and a forum for the political dialogue of the three Regions, in order to create equivalent living conditions in the cross-border area.

In this sense, even following the best practices of various European regions, it is possible to implement initiatives to overcome cross-border obstacles in the areas of competence of the Regions, leveraging the excellence that characterizes the territories

EGTC Euregio Senza Confini could therefore represent the tool for the resolution of numerous cross-border obstacles of citizens living in border areas.

The EGTC Euregio Senza Confini could therefore represent the tool for the resolution of numerous cross-border obstacles of citizens living in border areas, for example the improvement of integrated health systems of the three Regions, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Carinthia, the prevention and mitigation of the risk of natural disasters in the border territories, education and training systems of young people and the needs of workers and businesses, who cross the territories of the regions themselves on a daily basis.
